| To install the Member
Directory, you will need to have enough free space on your
PDA for the main application and database. The photos, which
are optional, will take up additional space depending on the
PDA model and whether you want them in color or
black-and-white. |

Go to the Install/Update page and follow
the instructions there.
Your program will be called
"OCBA" in your menu.
Simply select the application from the menu.
There are five different ways to locate Members: using the
alphabet keys, searching on criteria, searching by keyword, and looking
at your list of shortcuts.
The alphabet keys are located near the top of the screen. Each key
contains two letters of the alphabet. Select the key for the starting letter of the last name of the Member you want to locate.
For example, if you are looking for William Granger, choose the gh button, which will give you a list of all the Members
whose last names start with either "G" or "H".
At any time, you may use the graffiti input area on your device to quickly find directory entries by last name.
Letters entered using graffiti input will initiate an automatic search for last names starting with the
letters that have been entered. You may enter a string of up to 20 letters consecutively and you may also
use the backspace graffiti stroke to remove the last entered letter from the search string. The search
results list will change each time you enter an additional letter to reflect the new search string.
The search string is temporary and will be discarded when you stop entering new letters and do something else
with the program, like choosing to view a member or selecting an Alphabet Key.
For example, if you enter "t" in the graffiti input area
the program will show you a list of all the Members whose last names start with "T".
If you then enter "r", the program will show you a list of all the Members whose
last names start with "Tr". You may stop entering letters and select the Member you want to
see from the list at any time. Then you can begin another search by entering a letters
in the graffiti area.
Press the menu button on your Palm, go to the Tools menu, and
select Search. Tap the field
you wish to search on before attempting to enter any criteria. You may search on multiple criteria,
if you like.
The program is not case-sensitive, so you may enter lower or upper case
letters.
- Press Cancel at any time to take you out of this view
- Press Search to initiate your Member find
For example, if you are looking for a member whose last name was
similar to Smith, but you can't remember exactly what it was, enter
"SM" into the last name field, and press Search.
Or, perhaps you are looking for a Member with the first name of
Sue but you can't remember the last name. Enter "sue" into the
first name field, and press Search.
Or, perhaps you are attempting to locate a member with a particular practice area, for example Criminal Law. Select
"Criminal Law" from the list of available Areas of Practice, and press
Search.
Press the menu button on your Palm, go to the Tools menu, and
select Keyword Search.
This will enable you to search by a keyword or phrase. You may enter a
partial keyword or phrase, as well, although entering multiple keywords
that do not appear sequentially within the data will result in no
Members being located.
- Press Cancel at any time to take you out of this view
- Press Search to initiate your Member find
For example entering and search the keyword "judge" will show you a list of all the members with the status "Judge"
but the list will also include any member with the word "judge" in their information.
Select the Shortcuts button at the end of the alphabet keys. This will bring up your list of previously selected
shortcuts (see Shortcuts for more information)
After you have located the Member you want (see Finding
Members for more information), click on the Members name to bring up his or her data. The Members name, status, phone number, and picture will be displayed, as available (picture will not display if you have turned off that option).

photo). This will enable you to see such information as address,
additional phone numbers, certifications, and notes that you have taken
(see Notes for more information)
While viewing additional information, click the right and left arrow buttons to move from screen to screen within that Members data.
When you no longer wish to view the additional information, select less

While the Member window is still open, you may still click on
another Member name in the main window in order to scroll through a
listing of members. Or, you may use either the rocker button/up & down
arrows or your scroll button on your Palm to scroll.
When you are finished viewing data for Members, you may close the window by clicking on the

more information)
